![]() Tulip Bubble is a quirky game of commodity speculation. Bohnanza might be Uwe Rosenberg's best game, and for it's tiny size it has no right in being as clever as it is. Lifeboats is terrific if you think your group is capable of playing it without murdering one another. Manila is another great game, from Container designer Franz-Benno Delonge. They give you excruciating decisions packed into a tiny framework. Such classic little gems, with no modern equal IMO. Knizia is probably my go-to designer for this answer. That said, I also have a lot of light games on my shelf, because people don't always want to sit down for 3 or 4 hours. I enjoy big heavy games like Vinhos and Barrage and Bios: Origins, and I've been playing a lot of heavy wargames too, like Nevsky or Imperial Struggle or Normandy 44. As such, I don't rule out trying a game solely based on a game's weight. Then what pieces are being cleared from player boards that will end up being returned to the bag.Īll that said, I overall think that BGG gets the weight in the rough ballpark, but I'd argue that the weight metric doesn't necessarily equate to a game's depth. Some of my favorite lighter games are ones that fill a unique genre in my collection that I haven't seen a heavier version I like. Overall, I do agree that I like my games to have some "crunch" to them, so most of my favorite games are 3.0 and higher.
